The novel is about a tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, and his passion and obsession to reunite with his ex-lover, Daisy Buchanan. The story explores topics of wealth, class, love and idealism. From the outside, the main character, Jay Gatsby, proof of the American dream of the 1920s New York elite. He is a man of humble origins who accumulated vast wealth. However, his humble background makes him remains an outsider in the eyes of elite society.
